Most 4.2.1–4.3 devices are incompatible with this software. Both devices running 4.2.1 and above and those running 4.4 should be able to use it.
This is for adjusting the volume of music, movies, and apps, not the speakerphone during phone calls (which, I believe, has its own boost).

Volume Booster will not be active when the boost is set to zero. The notification symbol is merely there to make launching easier. Simply go to Volume Booster’s Settings and adjust the notification icon so that it only appears when Volume Booster is operating if you’d prefer not to see it when the program is off.
